JPFC Finish as Runners-Up in Democracy Cup Youth Tournament

The Democracy Cup Youth Tournament, held from May 11 to May 14 at the Mac Dan La Town Park, brought together some of the finest lower division football clubs in Ghana for four days of exciting youth football action. Organised by the Parliament of Ghana in collaboration with Sunderland AFC, the tournament aimed at promoting grassroots football development while nurturing young talents across the country.

Twelve lower division clubs participated in the competition and were divided into three groups of four teams each. Among the participating sides was JPFC, who were drawn in Group C alongside Great Padua and Tudu Mighty Jets FC. JPFC quickly established themselves as one of the tournament’s strongest sides with an impressive hundred percent record during the group stage.

JPFC opened their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Great Padua. The decisive moment of the match came through 2025/26 Discovery of the Year, Emmanuel Nabie Endong, whose goal secured all three points for the team and set the tone for a promising tournament run.

The team followed up their opening success with an emphatic 3-0 triumph against Tudu Mighty Jets FC in their second group match. Goals from Mishack Ayane, Mustapha Bunyaminu, and William Bryan Nkrumah ensured JPFC finished top of their group in dominant fashion, scoring four goals without conceding.

In the semi-finals, JPFC faced a difficult test against Stari Third World. However, the team once again demonstrated their quality and attacking strength with a commanding 3-1 victory. Micheal Appiah got on the scoresheet while Adamu Aminu delivered an outstanding performance by netting a brace to send JPFC into the final amid high expectations.

Despite their remarkable journey, JPFC fell short in the final against a strong Attram De Visser side. The team battled courageously but eventually suffered a 3-1 defeat, finishing the tournament as runners-up of the Democracy Cup Youth Tournament.

Although the title slipped away, JPFC’s performances throughout the competition showcased the club’s growing potential and the immense talent within the squad. Their exciting style of play, discipline, and determination earned admiration from fans and observers, making them one of the standout teams of the tournament.
